After completing the sport climbing course, you will be able to climb sport routes together with other climbers at your skill level, manage lead rope re-tie on different types of top anchors and secure a leadman. You will also learn techniques for descending from the top of the cliff by yourself using common belay methods and rigging a safe anchor in fixed anchors or larger trees for belaying and top rope climbing.
The course will also give you insights into how to assess risks in outdoor sport and top rope climbing and increase your awareness of access issues and ethical issues in climbing.
Red card climbing is included in the course and at the last session you will find out if you have passed or not. Safety thinking permeates the entire course.

Prerequisites
- You should have attended a top rope course or have equivalent knowledge of belaying techniques, and you should have been belaying regularly on top rope for at least one month or on about 10-12 occasions.
- You need to be able to climb at least grade 6a without major difficulties on top rope, both on vertical and overhanging wall.
- You should understand that falls are a greater risk in lead climbing compared to top rope climbing, especially outdoors.
Age limit
The minimum age to participate in the course is 16 years. An outdoor sport climbing course always involves greater risks than our indoor courses. Participants under the age of 18 may only participate with parental consent.
Price
The course costs SEK 1,600 for those with an active training fee in the club. Training fee can be purchased separately or in connection with course booking.

You are responsible for getting to and from the cliff yourself. We will talk more about directions and possible carpooling on the first day.
